Verena Castle's husband, Sidney Castle, was born in Canada, and came to the United States by way of New Jersey.

The Castle family in Canada is quite extensive. Sidney's brother Rupert (Bob) was a great friend to both Verena and her son, hosting them several times as the boy was growing up.

Rupert's wife Anne was quite a character, she was a lot of fun to be around. Rupert and Anne had several children, including Gary, Brian, and Brenda.

Some ten years after Verena and Sidney divorced, Sidney was remarried to a woman named Nixon, and they had a daughter named Heather when Sidney was in his 60's. Sidney passed at age 72, and Verena's son is still searching for his half-sister.
